Everyone gets an individualized strategy to work into their corporation so you get better decision space, while shortening the game to a tighter experience. Creates a great midpoint between beginner rules of everyone having an equal start of production and corporate era rules of no production to begin with. Pick this one if your games are getting too long for your players taste and you’re using corporate era rules. I’m putting this first because most people would agree. I’ve thought long and hard about this and discussed it with everyone that I know that has played with all the expansions and here’s what I got: I can easily play without this, doesn't feel it adds anything to the game at all except diluting the card deck a lot. It doesn't feel well integrated for me and makes the game less smooth. I find that the Venus board and new floater resources very tacked on to the game. However it dilutes the card deck further making it hard to form combos. I was surprised how different I play with different maps.Ĭolonies only if you want a bit more player interaction. This gives more variety to the game with new milestones and awards and map layout, changing your strategy a lot based on it but still remains like the original game. Hellas & Elysium I will consider as essential once you play a lot of the base game, at least 10 times or so. It still gives the same feeling of engine building for Tmars and doesn't alter the gameplay at all, but cut down game time by 30 minutes. In order of what I doubt the best expansion to the worst: I wish I could just play more of this game, so much fun! Playing the base board 30 times can get redundant and the new boards, milestones and awards change the game up which is also great to have. Venus brings in an other track that you can use to still help speed along this process. Venus is not tacked on at all and is a great addition, and speeds the game up, the base game has the 3 end triggers and usually one of them skyrockets to the finish line and then your sitting waiting on the other 2 and you may have to wait a very long time for players to get something to start triggering air, heat, water or whatever is left. Prelude is hands down a must buy, the newest colonies I think is a must buy as well, it adds even more ways to go and get resources for whatever engine your running (granted they are randomly put out, and the one you need may possibly be buried at first) but they are all good at something and you can pick and choose what you want. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
